Kahawa Link Company (Kalico), Kirundo and Muyinga Provinces, North-Eastern Burundi
Kalico is a women owned company in North-East Burundi. It was started by Angele Ciza and a close friend, who eventually parted way a few years back. The company consists of 7 washing stations. Each washing stations services 1,000-3,000 small scale farmers, all growing coffee primarily of the bourbon varietal. Angele is working with the producers on education, and is also investing in additional training, environmental protection, micro-credit, micro-insurance, and social infrastructures.
